Make It Work with Amanda, Sophia & Kristin

3 BB Dakota staffers x 3 key looks for fall = 9 new outfit ideas to try. It's science.

*This Is How We Do It plays softly in the background*... In our September edition of Make It Work, we've enlisted three more team members to show off their unique personal style in BBD. Meet Amanda M. our Jr. Art Director, Kristin B. our Ecomm & Merchandising Manager, and Sophia C. our Marketing Assistant. Scroll on to see how they incorporated three of their favorite new arrivals into their wardrobe.

    The Eldridge Coat

    Amanda - Jr. Art Director

"This feels like a great investment piece. The neutral tones are what I love so much about this coat, it’s not like most buffalo plaid. I can see myself wearing it to work or out on a day trip somewhere chilly. I was inspired to style something anyone would look good in. Something easy, but then when you add the coat you have an instantly put-together outfit. I added a cute backpack to go with the outdoorsy feel of the coat and some funky boots with lots of detailing to make this more “me”." - Amanda

    Sophia - Marketing Assistant

"The color of this coat is just perfect and feels so fall. I like that it's so classic and versatile, I could wear it for a girls' night out or even a first date. For this look, I kept my styling pieces simple, to keep the focus on the coat. However, I’m all about the funky hair accessories trend. Adding the glitzy fun hair clip and the over the knee boots added a touch of girlie-girl to the whole 'fit." - Sophia

Kristin - Ecomm & Merchandising Manager

"This thing is an instant classic. I'll definitely be rocking this everywhere, all season long. The pattern is bold, but not in a way that gets old... just like my personality (hopefully, haha). This was honestly the hardest look for me to put together, because I feel like the opportunities are endless! I knew I wanted to do something with a turtle neck for the added coziness, but since we’re in Southern California and fall really doesn’t exist, I paired it with a denim skirt. The thigh-high boots add a little sexiness and my favorite Brixton hat adds that tomboy touch. I love a good hat moment - good for style, even better for bad hair days." - Kristin

    The In The Wild Skirt

"The silhouette of this is sexy and flattering, especially with the ruffle in the front. And the print is really cool without being over the top. I'd wear this out to a night of dinner and bar-hopping with girlfriends or on a date with some hunk. Putting this look together, I was imagining myself getting ready to go out and just had fun with it. I tried band tees, tank tops, bralettes, and honestly all of them looked cute. But this top stood out to me. You never know what will work till you try it! Again, boots are my go-to so I thought these red western style ones would add a pop of color and compliment the skirt well. I did an off-the-shoulder for some subtle drama and the bag is just so cute with the gold detailing, I couldn’t resist. Added a bold lip to tie it all together and BOOM. This whole look is a little quirky and playful which I love. I know that no matter where I would wind up in the look I would feel confident." - Amanda

"I love how flattering this skirt is. The ruffle just gives it something extra. I would totally rock this out at a brunch or even a fancier dinner. I wanted to casualize the skirt, so I paired it with a vintage tee and some flat sandals. I think it’s a great look when you get bored of wearing jeans 24/7. I like that it’s feminine without being super girly. I would have never thought to wear an animal print skirt, but this one is so easy to dress down to make it feel more me." - Sophia

"I like that this skirt isn't a traditional leopard print—it’s got a moodiness to it. It’s like badass meets femme. I can't wait to rock this on a night out for cocktails and a show. I wanted to juxtapose feminine with masculine in this look. The skirt has this bold print, a ruffle, and it’s form fitting so I opted for a band tee to make it more street. Also had to throw on my highest booties to make it super girl-power. The white Jack by BB Dakota vegan leather jacket is my favorite layer to add to a going out look. The studs and the stitching make it feel really luxe, plus its still soft and comfy. I love music—this look brings out my edgy rock vibe." - Kristin

    The Where'd She Go Overalls

"These overalls are such a fun take on the camo trend. I actually wear this look anytime I can: weekends, shopping, road trips, or over to a girlfriend’s for a night in. Styling-wise, I was thinking something comfy and on-trend, that still shows my personality. I wear band t-shirts often and thought having one peeking out under the overalls would be a fun way to express myself. The sunglasses I added tie in the black and white aspect of the shirt while my boots add a little bit of an edge. I’m not a super girly person so this piece is great for me!" - Amanda

"I love how easy this style is. The overalls look edgy without being over the top. I'd wear this on a casual date night or a to a weekend farmers market. Since it’s still pretty warm here in LA, I wanted to pair with the Off Duty Emmaly bralette, but I definitely see myself throwing it over a long sleeve knit top when it gets a little chillier. As for accessories, I take full advantage of any opportunity to rock a chunky dad sneaker. Relaxed but still slightly trendy, I feel like this outfit definitely sums up my style." - Sophia

"These are SUPER comfy, but also stylish. If I don’t really feel like “getting-ready” these are the perfect thing to throw on! They're ideal for a girls day, a.k.a. shopping, grabbing tacos and beer. In terms of styling, I love a print mixing moment—so I thought this would be a good opportunity to mix it up with up with a striped top. My Vans are my go-to sneaker and they help casualize the look even more. I'm all about looking comfy and effortless." - Kristin
